About the Game
CryptoVillages takes place in a sci-fi realm called Cryptopia. In this metaverse, players enter to develop and maintain their village and play various games to earn money.
Players start by purchasing buildings from the in-game shop. Players are required to supply these buildings with food and resources to receive taxes from them in the form of $D. There are various types of buildings, Standards, Premium, Stakeholders, and Castles. The better the building, the better the benefits of owning one. Every building can be upgraded, increasing the amount of $D received and the amount of food and resources supplied. Players can obtain food through an in-game vendor and resources through Wilderness Raiding.
One of the games that CryptoVillages offers is Wilderness Raiding, a PvE mode that allows players to send their villagers to the wild to gather resources and relics. These resources are used to upgrade the buildings in the village.
The project brings Defend Cryptopia! (PvM mode), where players have to defend their villages from monsters. These monsters may appear from time to time to attack, so players can enlist up to 5 commanders and five weapons to protect and earn $D and/or resources.
And lastly, the Cryptopian Warzones, a PvP mode where players send an assembled army of villagers from their Standard or Premium buildings to battle against other players’ armies. The soldiers have different skills and types that players may consider before assembling their army. There are three types of PvP battles:
- Ranked: a game mode that allows players to earn rewards, including $D, resources, and $BUSD
- Unranked: these battles do not reward the players. They are a training ground for players
- Free Play: no NFTs are required to enter these battles. However, they do need to log into their MetaMask wallet. Players are given basic armies to compete
Players are allowed to own NFTs in the PvP battles and the PvE mode. Currently, three collections consist of 2 Commanders, The Righteous and The Fallen, and Weapons. They come in 5 levels of rarity Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythical.
Player Requirements
As of now, the beta is only available to play on PC. Players can access the game through the website. They have to create an account and connect their MetaMask account to start. Also, purchasing a building is required to start playing the game.

Dr. Mitchell Wright (Ph.D.)
Chief Executive Officer | Founding Member
Currently residing in Brisbane (Australia), Mitchell (Mitch) is the CEO of the CryptoVillages project - overseeing all aspects of the game’s development. Until recently, Mitch was a career microbiologist, having received his Ph.D. in 2014 at Griffith University for his work on manganese-oxidizing bacteria. His research has been multifaceted: ranging from whole genome analyses to research expeditions in estuaries, rivers, and oceans. Oh, and let's not forget that he used to work with anthrax! His academic career is just as impressive, and he has mentored many MSc and Ph.D. students and has extensive experience in university lecturing. His analytical and management skills, combined with his affinity towards and for video games, fueled his inspiration to quit science to focus on developing CryptoVillages full-time.
Nicholas Wirth
Chief Financial Officer | Founding Member
Also located in Brisbane, Nicholas (Nick) is one of the two executive officers of CryptoVillages, overseeing the project's online security. Having received his Bachelor of Engineering and completing his honors year, Nick dabbled in a traditional, 9 to 5 career. However, this system made him feel increasingly trapped over time, and one day he decided to leave it all behind for the world of crypto. After seeing the potential of crypto games in 2021, Nick gave up the engineering world in search of his next passion when the idea for CryptoVillages was born. In addition to his extensive knowledge of crypto, Nick has been a passionate gamer for most of his life, and it was World of Warcraft (where he was well known as the best tank of his server - he wanted to make sure we mention that) where he and Mitch first met. Being the jack-of-all-trades that he is, now that CryptoVillages is self-sufficient, Nick divides his time between the project and other endeavors. But he is always around to assist when needed or to have a friendly chat!
Marko Jäntti
3D Artist
Marko is a 3D artist located in Jyväskylä (Finland) with several years of experience in both the Unity space and in-game asset design. While his primary role is with CryptoVillages, Marko also freelances with his side business, delivering interior design renderings and other products to his clients. As if he didn't already have enough on his plate, Marko also provides courses/tutorials on 3D modeling and other topics online to help educate others in the space.

“This project looks like a well-thought-out game for any type of player. For starters, the game has simple mechanics making it very easy to understand. If you look at The Sims, for example, you will realize there are many buttons and actions to do. On the contrary, this game has just a few buttons to click. Also, the project offers various game modes for users with different preferences. Players are not required to play every game mode since they can start earning rewards and money just by building and taking care of their village. On the other hand, owning an NFT is mandatory to begin their journey in the CryptoVillage world. People would have to research and trust the project and the team behind it to have their money’s worth.
I honestly liked this project. I think it is complete regarding what players can do in the game. There are many ways to play and to earn money that it seems improbable to get bored.”
