Web 3.0 Gaming Console from Zilliqa

As new technologies evolve, so does the world of games and gaming devices. Although there are many traditional gaming consoles on the market such as PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, Zilliqa is now coming up with its own Web 3.0 gaming device to compete with these consoles and usher in a new era of gaming experiences.

Zilliqa, a company that focuses on developing dApps, recently unveiled a prototype of its unique gaming console. While the exact specifications have not yet been unveiled, the company revealed that the console can seamlessly integrate Web 3.0 elements and includes features such as an integrated miner and software wallet.

The company's strategy includes their first game, Web3War, with which they are looking to expand their ZIL ecosystem by leveraging the blockchain game market.

The difference between Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 games

Although both Web 2.0 and Web 3.0 games are full of interesting experiences, there are crucial differences between them. While Web 2.0 games are primarily created for entertainment purposes only and offer virtually no earning potential, Web 3.0 games often allow players to make money by playing.

According to Zilliqa, the Web 3.0 gaming industry has a huge potential to enable developers to create innovative gaming experiences that are not only focused on financial gain, but on fun and competition.

Zilliqa's plans

Zilliqa's first game, Web3War, was unveiled at Gamescom, with the reaction from the gaming community being quite positive. Zilliqa is looking to appeal to gamers with the gaming capabilities of their console and, as a bonus, the potential to earn while playing.

Zilliqa's head of gaming technology, Valentin Cobelea explained that the console, along with Zilliqa's gaming hub, will allow gamers who do not have the necessary cryptocurrency knowledge to earn money by playing games without the hassle of managing the crypto they earn.

The company plans to launch its own service with an expanding catalog of gaming titles, which is intended to be the Web 3.0 equivalent of the Steam platform, during 2023.

A simple Web 3.0 gaming experience

The console will offer a Skill-To-Earn gaming model that allows players to earn ZIL tokens for completing in-game missions and quests. The ZIL tokens will offer the same benefits as traditional game currencies, but with the added benefits that blockchain technology provides. To ensure a pure gaming experience, the console is designed to hide the underlying complexities associated with blockchain technology, thereby making it accessible to all.

Cobelea stressed that the revenue generated from gaming on the console will be directly proportional to the skills and abilities of the players. The console also allows users to mine ZIL tokens while they play, leading to greater decentralization of the Zilliqa blockchain by increasing the number of miners from around the world.

While Zilliqa has not yet revealed the price of the console, the company claims that it will "eventually pay off" for owners. This statement suggests that the earnings associated with gaming and eventual mining could equal, or even surpass, the initial investment.

Collaboration and partnerships

The company entered the gaming space by becoming a member of the Blockchain Gaming Alliance (BGA) and partnering with e-sports teams such as MAD Lions, RRQ, Alien Worlds and XBorg. With the latter's Web 3.0 organization, XBorg, the company plans to engage their community in creating exciting gaming tournaments and various marketing activities, with that community also having early access to Zilliqa's gaming center.

Web 3.0 console

Zilliqa's console is just the beginning. Thanks to the ever-growing Web 3.0 gaming industry, innovations in this sector are currently attracting a lot of attention.

The first attempt to create a Web 3.0 game console was the Polium One project, but its lack of transparency and credibility meant that it did not satisfy the market. Despite this failure, though, mainstream companies such as AMD and Ubisoft are now looking at blockchain-based gaming systems.

Ubisoft, for example, is experimenting with a blockchain-based gaming system, hinting at the future possibility of crypto-consoles or platforms. Meanwhile, major semiconductor manufacturer, AMD, has partnered with gaming platform Ultra and together, they are working to develop gaming hardware that will have native blockchain support. All this research and development demonstrates that mainstream companies are clearly becoming more interested in this emerging technology.

A promising start for Web 3.0 games

Zilliqa's console represents a watershed moment for the gaming industry. With their ability to provide a seamless entry into the world of blockchain and an enjoyable gaming experience at the same time, the company is forging a new path for innovation in gaming.

With more and more traditional gaming companies and various startups exploring Web 3.0 technology and related gaming devices, we are sure to see a future full of engaging stories and interactive experiences that redefine ownership in the digital world and pave the way for the next generation of gamers.
