About the game

Player Requirements

In order to start earning, players must choose an item type (Rover, Scouting Drone, Buggy or Quad) and then proceed to purchase an NFT (Ownership & Sponsorship Card) to start playing and exploring the Mars surface.

The account requirements are a username, email address, password and then the user must set up and connect their WAX wallet. Each player can connect only ONE WAX wallet to the game.

Tokennomics

$MARTIA: The in-game and multiple resources token created on the WAX blockchain, with a max supply of 12,000,000,000.0000, (10 billion towards game earnings and 2 billion to be released over time for development and other activities).

$MARTIA can be earned through the following activities:

  • Depending on a player’s strategy, they will use their owned resources to expand their base and contribute to the colony. Earnings also depend on the collection strength of their base cards
  • Managing resources for mining, exploring, and completing certain tasks
  • Skill-based mini games, such as “Mars Exploration”

Utility of $MARTIA:

  • Paying for a variety of items in the in-game Store such as cards, upgrades, supply crates, land plots, enhancements and skins
  • Once the DAO is established, $MARTIA will be used for players to put forward colony proposals and acquire the ability to vote
  • Purchasing lands and mine
  • Acquiring Blueprints for Construction

Players can stake a portion of their $MARTIA tokens to earn:

  • Additional $MARTIA
  • Resource tokens
  • NFT drops (include Ownership Cards)

$RESOURCE: Utility tokens represented as commodities, services that are created and consumed on Mars and spent on a variety of goods

  • Max supply of 1 trillion
  • There are 16 resource tokens: Power, water, wellbeing, regolith, construction materials, food, oxygen, fuel, engineer, science and logistics labor, repairs, medicine, data and ore. At any time, players can withdraw these resource tokens from their balance to their wallet and exchange them for $MARTIA tokens

$RESOURCE tokens are acquired by:

  • Exploring mini-games such as “Mars Exploration”
  • Performing different research tasks on Mars and transferring the results back to Earth

Utility of $RESOURCE tokens:

  • Used to purchase NFTs via the in-game Store
  • Some of these tokens can be used to send rocket ships back to Earth
  • These tokens can be staked to earn additional NFTs in staking pools
  • Players can decide how much they want to receive either as $MARTIA or Resource tokens, from the following weightings:

            - 100% Martia, 0% Resources

            - 75% Martia, 25% Resources

            - 50% Martia, 50% Resources

            - 25% Martia, 75% Resources

  • By contributing as an ISA member, there are higher chances of winning Ownership, Sponsorship and Discovery NFTs through colony development

Monetization

There is a variety of ways to monetize in Colonize Mars, such as:

  • Mini-games: Through the mini-games, players can earn $MARTIA and $RESOURCE tokens. There are 8 types of resources, 3 of which are randomly hidden around the map and can be acquired just by exploring
  • By exploring the map and acquiring knowledge about the mechanics to gain access to vehicles, equipment, astronauts, buildings and other NFTs
  • Players can stake $MARTIA to earn $RESOURCE and additional $MARTIA tokens, as well as NFT drops
  • Crafting cards to optimize their strength and get greater rewards while playing

Analytic Opinion

“The Colonize Mars team are really passionate about their shared goal for the game, and are working hard on improving the mechanics. It is a very well-organized digital trading card collection game that allows for such natural progression through the game that I found myself wanting to volunteer to go to Mars myself!. One feature I really liked is that The Interplanetary Space Alliance will become a DAO, which will function as a political hub for all users, giving them more power over the components of the game.

As a science lover, I believe this game is a great representation of a real economy and civilization on Mars, and I really enjoyed looking at each and every aspect of the project. Players have already been amazed by the graphics, and I’m happy to see such a low cost of entry for an NFT game. Of course, another thing that players are looking for is the opportunity to get involved in a game’s evolution, and its position on WAX Top Collections on DappRadar is a good point of reference for potential users and investors alike.

It is well known that a video game can improve a person’s understanding of certain topics, as well as being able to form social networks and spark greater interest in specific subjects. I think that Colonize Mars has all these attributes, and I would personally want to play it while learning more about aerodynamics and the possible long-term plans for our civilization in real life. All in all, this project gets a resounding “yes” from me and I can’t wait to see it hit new heights during its development.”

This game is a simulation of what it would be like to build a civilization on Mars. It is a design-centered, visually captivating city simulation for gamers and blockchain enthusiasts alike.

Users join the Interplanetary Space Alliance™ (ISA) to build an aerospace career by leading operations and programs that will help to establish a civilization on Mars, and in space in general. The Interplanetary Space Alliance will eventually grow into a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that will function as a political platform for all users.

Players navigate through a 3D map which contains high-resolution photos of Mars’ surface, created by NASA. While doing so, they can find scientific evidence while producing rare Discovery NFTs and mining resources. Players will also need to manage their deck of NFTs and resources in a strategic manner, and set out to discover new resources and enhance their equipment.

Players can follow three paths to define the evolution of their simulation:

Becoming a legendary Martian explorer by:

  • Organizing expeditions
  • Discovering resources deposits
  • Making important discoveries

Mastering the science and economics of operating the Mars colony by:

  • Managing a dynamic resource chain affected by other players’ decisions and random hazards
  • Accumulating large amounts of resource tokens
  • Collecting rare NFT cards
  • Unlocking resource-related achievements
  • Acquiring land plots to:

            - Accumulate resource tokens

            - Build oasis, buildings, equipment, vehicles and others

            - Develop new outposts

            - Form alliances

            - Customize items with visual upgrades

There are 2 categories of NFT cards required to play the game, both of  which can be used to obtain $MARTIA and other resources, as well as influencing the in-game experience. These are:

NFT Ownership & Sponsorship Cards: Unique, hitherto undiscovered astronauts and items that can be found in supply crates. The more of these a player owns, the higher their rank will be on the leaderboard.

  • These have a health value of 0% - 100%
  • E.g.: Fuel Generator One, John Alves (engineer), etc.

NFT Base Cards: Elements assigned to each item or astronaut type.

  • These have 2 states (Active or Inactive)
  • E.g.: Dark Matter Solar Panel Array, Shadow Female Scientist, etc.

Crafting or “blending” cards: The process of combining a larger quantity of lower rarity base cards to create a smaller quantity of higher rarity base cards. The number of cards needed to craft will depend on the rarity.

The gameplay is centered on 4 key areas:

  • Economic strategy: Players must manage a resource chain affected by other users’ decisions and random activities in the plot
  • Mars exploration: Navigation through the 3D map in order to discover, survey and mine
  • Colony expansion: Counts with 2 phases that the player can achieve:

            - Developing the main colony by building and expanding the base

            - Purchasing hexagonal land plots that surround the base to build their own outposts using resources and blueprints for buildings, equipment and vehicles

  • Leveling up: Users join the ISA and build their aerospace career by leading important tasks on the base while they climb leaderboards, earn achievements and gain experience

Colonize Mars includes four integrated missions created by a team of aerospace experts in order to educate players on how a self-sustaining city on Mars can be designed, assembled and maintained:

  • Mission 1: Used to drop basic tools and supplies controlled remotely by ISA from Earth
  • Mission 2: 4 astronauts arrive with more instruments to set up habitation modules, conduct scientific experiments and explore
  • Mission 3: 8 astronauts join to help the others expand the infrastructure, exploration and operations
  • Mission 4: The goal is to bring larger structures, vehicles, weather and construction equipment, as well as more professional astronauts to organize further missions

Other in-game features:

  • Dynamic Hazard System: These are random events that can disrupt regular operations on Mars and could harm astronauts, both mentally and physically. Depending on the level of damage, these hazards can also affect the health of Ownership & Sponsorship Cards and deactivate Base Cards, but of course, these can be repaired and reactivated. These events are built into the gameplay strategy to add more realism and create more engagement
  • Mars Exploration: A skill-based logic puzzle to navigate vehicles and collect resources or hidden deposits for the player’s supply chain. Time is limited due to the vehicle’s power supply; once it finishes, the player will automatically return to base
  • Colony Expansion: Players contribute as a community to a larger shared goal of obtaining valuable NFTs to add to their collection
  • Land Development: The land NFT will be represented by real Martian topology. As the base grows, users will have the opportunity to obtain or lease virtual land by spending their $MARTIA tokens

There are three types of blockchain assets that create a decentralized digital economy:

  • NFTs: These are unique cryptographic tokens that can’t be replicated. They are presented as base cards, ownership & sponsorship cards, buildings, blueprints, patches, visual upgrades, equipment, discovery cards, land plots, astronauts and vehicles
  • FTs: These are Fungible Tokens which are interchangeable. In this game, these are represented by the token $MARTIA and other fungible resources like food, water, fuel, etc.
  • NTT: These Non-Transferrable Tokens cannot be transferred or traded between users. They are used for in-game achievements and granting community membership
