Mines of Dalarnia Update 1.3: Operation Astrolab

The developers of Mines of Dalarnia are working hard to improve their game and this update introduces several new features, which we have outlined in our article.

Improved movements and energy

The tedious navigator clicks and limited mining energy are now a thing of the past. With the 1.3 update comes a major improvement to travel, so that you can simply select the country you want to mine and move to it immediately, without any lengthy travel around the planet first. Another major improvement is the removal of energy caps that were unnecessarily hindering mining. With the 1.3 update, these energy limits have been removed and players can mine for as long as their equipment allows.

Competitions and leaderboards

Update 1.3: Operation Astrolab introduces a game mode of the same name in which players will compete against each other and climb up the leaderboard by completing a series of challenges in order to earn DAR token rewards.

Perks

With the update comes a rebalancing of equipment perks. Many perks will be improved, but the developers have assured that rather than being nerfed, they will either be enhanced, reworked or kept the same. The developers want to encourage players to create builds by giving rewards to those who are wearing the equipment that corresponds to the area in which they are operating. For example, if players are mining in the jungle, they will be rewarded for wearing two or three pieces of equipment for that area.

Ape Quest

The release of a long-awaited feature is almost here. The developers are planning to release a special article about this feature, in which players will learn everything they need to know. For now, however, it is clear that players will be able to earn DAR tokens with their apes for completing quests. Moreover, the more apes a player owns, the more quest contracts they will be able to complete.

Minigame: Space Hop

The last item in the update is a new multiplayer minigame called Space Hop. This minigame will be accessible from the Satellite for 2-5 players to compete against each other in a game where they will jump across a series of disappearing platforms to try and get to the other side without falling into the void. The developers have hinted that this minigame will likely be linked to a rewards system in the future.

Asset Security Update

In addition to the upcoming 1.3 update, an important security update has been implemented to disconnect the Mines of Dalarnia game client from the current NFTs. On April 13, snapshots of all equipment, land and Canar-E were taken and transferred to off-chain game assets. Players can continue to use these NFTs in game and off chain, but trading these original NFT items will no longer be possible. Once the full migration has been completed, these items can be converted back to classic NFTs. The migration outside the original chain is occurring in order to increase the security of all in-game assets in the long run. The DAR tokens and resources will remain in the original chain, however, so they will not be affected by this migration.
