NFT streaming platform Shibuya has raised 6,900,000 USD

Shibuya is a Web 3.0 streaming platform that allows viewers to shape the story using NFTs, which also fund the project.

Shibuya is a Web 3.0 streaming platform that was founded in May this year by well-known NFT artist Emily “pplpleasr” Yang and Maciej Kuciara, who has contributed to many Hollywood blockbusters, such as Captain America: Civil War. The platform entices viewers with the option to purchase NFTs, which will support creation and give them a vote in the show’s development between episodes. Thus, the viewer themselves chooses the events of the story, driven by decentralized management. Games from Telltale Games work on a similar principle, also operating without decentralized management. Shibuya is simultaneously airing the White Rabbit anime series. The second episode is now available and the third is scheduled for next January.

In the seed round of the token sale, the platform managed to raise 6,900,000 USD. The largest investors include the funds a16z crypto and Variant, alongside other names such as NBA player Kevin Durant, Joseph Tsai, GMJP and Paris Hilton. The main goal is to engage creators who are not yet immersed in Web 3.0 and the longer-term plan is to open the tools to creators so that pplpleasr and Kuciara don't have to be so closely involved in the process. You can take a look and try the streaming platform at this link.
